KP
Porzingis
is not more injury prone than, say, Anthony Davis. One can portrait it this way
– look how many games KP missed due to the injuries first year, second year,
etc. OK – let’s put things in an order – right from the start.
Year one. KP
played with the Knicks and he was not injury prone at all. Yes, he had few
minor, but it was absolutely average. The biggest stretch KP missed was by the
end of the season when it was clear that Knicks will not make play-offs and
they were openly tanking. KP did not play due to the “process”.
His second
and third year when KP got his ACL torn the situation was much different. Knicks
desperately wanted to make the play-offs and KP was played 40+ minutes on daily
bases, even on back to back games due to what he had the same injury AD is
having right now. Next year KP had the ACL torn. Both these injuries were
because too much load on young guy with 7 and 3 frame.
It is never
easy to return from such injury but KP made it – he played good basketball February
and March last year. Then the season was suspended. Everybody likes the “Bubble
KP” – he used the time which was longer then normal off-season well. He learned
new moves was ready for the bubble. Yes, shit happens – he got injured again.
But this injury ,similar to stretched ancle, happens with NBA players all the
time. Nothing special or extraordinary. KP returned much faster form this
injury than Zion, for example, who’s recovery time was 6 months and even after
that he played restricted minutes. KP is back much earlier. For sure he could
not be at his best because he was not with the team in the pre-season – he simply
needed some time to get ready.
Some idiots
states that KP trade is inevitable and this kind of nonsense based on his performance
early of this season. They say he is injury prone, cannot play D, cannot shoot
the ball. Bullshit! KP is not more
injury prone than other big guys, he just had bad luck – wrong franchise for
the rooky years and one injury during last year’s play-offs. He is back from
the injury and ready to play. It is time to win with KP not trade him.
